75th Anniversary of the Institute for Bulgarian Language

On 15th May 2017 the Institute for Bulgarian Language celebrates its 75th anniversary.

It will be celebrated with the following events:

  • International Jubilee Conference

The topics of the conference cover areas such as modern Bulgarian, Bulgarian lexicology and lexicography, terminology and terminography, history of the Bulgarian language, Bulgarian dialectology, ethymology, onomastics and ethnolinguistics, general and comparative linguistics, computational linguistics. Researchers form across the country will take part – from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia University, Plovdiv University, Veliko Tarnovo University, Shumen University, as well as scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Norway, Lithuania, Italy. Some of the most significant projects of the Institute for Bulgarian Language will be presented and new approaches in Bulgarian linguistics and language education will be discussed.

The conference will take place on 15th and 16th May 2017, 9:30-18:00, at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia, 1 15th November Str.).

  • Round tables

Two round tables will be organised within the Conference:

– New Approaches in the Bulgarian Linguistics (15th May 2017, 16:00);

– New Approaches in the Bulgarian Language Education (16th May 2017, 16:00).

Participants include researchers from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia University, Plovdiv University and Shumen University.

  • Exhibition Prominent Figures in Bulgarian Linguistics

The exhibition will be launched on 15th May 2017 at 10:30 at the lobby of the central building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and will continue until 28th May 2017. The exhibition will present: Acad. Lyubomir Andreychin, Acad. Vladimir Georgiev, Acad. Stefan Mladenov, Corresponding of BAS Valentin Stankov, Prof. Yordan Zaimov, Prof. Kiril Mirchev, Prof. Iordan Penchev, Prof. Stoyko Stoykov, Prof. Todor A. Todorov, Prof. Kristalina Cholakova.
