On the occasion of 24 May \u2013 the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature, the Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences once again invites teachers and students across Bulgaria to join the Institute\u2019s \u201cThe Written Word Remains. Write Correctly!\u201d campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the thirteenth consecutive year, on 24 May and throughout the month of May, schoolchildren of all ages will have the opportunity to take part in a short dictation exercise, not only to test their knowledge of Bulgarian spelling and punctuation, but also to express their appreciation for Bulgarian education and culture and to pay tribute to Bulgarian teachers, scholars, educators and cultural figures.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have prepared two dictations. <\/span>One is based on remarks delivered by journalist Aleksandar Andreev on the occasion of 24 May, while the other is an excerpt from an interview with the writer Anton Donchev. <\/span> Minor editorial modifications have been made to both texts for the purposes of the dictation exercise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants may complete the dictations on a blank sheet of paper, using the templates provided, by creating their own versions, or by decorating their work with illustrations: <\/span>Template without lines<\/span><\/a> | <\/span>Template with lines<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

You are welcome to join the initiative whenever and however you choose, in the classroom, in public spaces, or on your own. We would be delighted to receive a brief description and photographs of your completed dictations by the end of May. To submit them, please complete <\/span>the following form<\/span><\/a>. If you experience technical difficulties with the form or cannot find the dictations you have already submitted on the website, please contact us at <\/span>teacher@ibl.bas.bg<\/span><\/a>. You may also share your dictations on Facebook by tagging the <\/span>“Language Consultations” page<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Young researchers from the Institute for Bulgarian Language will select the best entries. The results will be announced at the beginning of June on the Institute\u2019s website and on the Facebook page <\/span>“Language Consultations”<\/span><\/a>. The winners will receive by post a T-shirt and a sticker bearing the slogan \u201cThe Written Word Remains. Write Correctly!\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

By 20 May 2026, more than 1,000 photographs had already been submitted by participants from 69 schools in 51 towns and villages across Bulgaria.<\/p>\n
