Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of focus and its realization in the information structure of the simple declarative sentence in the written Bulgarian language. The aim of the study is to examine and verify the observations made already about focus in some previous
studies on the base on the analysis of data from different types of texts. The main problems which this paper makes attempt to investigate, are what are the mechanisms for identifying focus in the sentence and is it possible to distinguish anyhow the two types of focus, namely
information focus and identification focus, in the written Bulgarian language.
