Day of the National Enlighteners at 134th Secondary School and the Educational Centre “Media”
In marking the Day of the National Enlighteners, children from 134th Secondary School and the Educational Centre “Media” had the opportunity to learn more about Old Bulgarian alphabets and the work of Cyril and Methodius. On 30th, 31st October and 1st November 2017 researchers from the Department of History of the Bulgarian Language and the Department of Ethnolinguistics (prof. Mariyana Tsibranska, assoc. prof. Banya Micheva, assist. prof. Kalina Micheva and assist. Magdalena Abadzhieva) presented interesting facts about the creation of the first Slavic alphabet and the life of Cyril and Methodius. The children had the chance to see Glagolitic and Cyrillic manuscripts from the Middle Ages, to learn how books lived ages ago when there were no printers and modern technologies, as well as to read some words in Old Bulgarian. The celebration finished with one of the favourite activities of the children – drawing. They coloured special messages in Old Bulgarian.
