Abstract:
The framework of the project “Practical Work in Terminology” includes several sub-projects “Terminology Dictionary on Economics”, “Electronic Databases” and “Language and Mathematics – the Language of Mathematics”. The aim of the project is, on the one hand, to support the terminological practice of pupils, students, journalists and all members of society and, on the other hand, to serve the practical work of specialists from all areas of knowledge, ensuring accuracy and consistency in their professional communication. The results of the theoretical research on the meaning and content of the term, conceptual-semantic system in terminology, lexical semantic and formal variation are applied in the dictionaries and electronic databases. Dictionaries help users to specify the meanings of terms, consistency in each domain, and between domains (internal and external consistency). The main terms are presented by a definition, and include brief encyclopedic information for the concepts under consideration, as well as the classification classes of the terms are described; sA limited grammatical paradigm of terminological units is introduced in the scientific vocabulary database. The project’s objectives include the creation of a terminology dictionary on Economics, the study of foreign experience in the presentation of terminological information in electronic form, the development of the electronic databases, the elaboration of a model for electronic presentation of specialised mathematical vocabulary for the Bulgarian language. The project uses various approaches and methods – a systematic approach, a combination of a semasiological and a onomasiological approach; a (basic) synchronous, as well as a diachronic approach; and the comparative approach. The strategy uses the cognitive method, case grammar and component analysis, and other specific methods and procedures.
The project is consistent with the main priorities of the Institute for Bulgarian Language – Academic Dictionaries of the Bulgarian Language and Language Culture.
