Visiting Intern from the University of Palermo at IBE – BAS
From 14 July to 9 August 2025, Alessia Ruolo – a master’s student in the program “Languages and Literatures: Interculturality and Education” at the University of Palermo, Italy – completed a 75-hour internship at the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The internship was hosted by the Department of History of the Bulgarian Language and supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tatyana Braga.
The training program was titled “South and East Slavic Cultural and Linguistic Relations,” and involved working with Slavic manuscripts and archives at the SS. Cyril and Methodius National Library and the BAS Library. It also included the development of academic writing skills focused on intercultural perspectives, preparation of a publication, and training in research project development.
Additionally, at the initiative of the head of the Department for History of the Bulgarian Language, Prof. M. Tsibranska-Kostova, a course in Italian for researchers was organized at the Institute, with Alessia participating as a lecturer. Her internship is part of the Institute’s sustainable practice of building international partnerships and promoting scientific mentorship with young researchers.
