Abstract:
Due to project European Linguistic Atlas a team from the Institute of Bulgarian language participates in the international edition Atlas Linguarum Europae (ALE). Within it different dialectal specifics of all languages in Europe, that include the seven main language groups – Celtic, Romance, Germanic, Slavic, Baltic, Ugro-Finnish, Ibero-Caucasian and also different separate languages on a settlement network from more than 2600 stations are being mapped. Lexical specifics following the names of main concepts from the everyday culture and the natire of the continent are being reflected. To every map is added detailed commentary that explain the lexems in onomasiological, semasiological and motivational aspect by answering typical questions of the word formation and fonetical variants. The results of the linguogeographical presentation contribute for the explanation of the relations between the languages of the people in Europe. The results from the execution of the project are applicable in the linguistics, culturology, history, european studies.
The project is a part of two priority areas of research at the Institute for Bulgarian Language – Cultural and Historical Linguistic Heritage of the bulgarians.
Results: liguogeographic maps and commentaries added to them for the international edition Atlas Linguarum Europae; thematically connected research papers and articles.
