Abstract:
The research conducted within the project follows the principal directions of contemporary terminology studies: the investigation of general terminology theory and the identification of the characteristics of Bulgarian terminology from cognitive, conceptual, and linguistic perspectives. Theoretical research in terminology provides the methodological and applied foundations for the development and refinement of specialised languages used in scientific, socio-political, and educational communication.
The aim of the project is to advance both terminology studies as a scientific discipline and the practical work of terminology specialists, as well as specialists in all scientific and professional fields.
The studies conducted within the project are consistent with one of the main priorities of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020—Excellent Science—and with the objective Science with and for Society, by providing the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of specialised terminology in science, socio-political life, and education, thereby supporting precision and consistency in professional communication across different fields of knowledge.
The project forms part of the Institute for Bulgarian Language’s research area Theoretical Linguistic Studies.
