Language Consultation Service

National Service with half a century of history, provided by the Department of Modern Bulgarian Language.

From 9am until 5pm daily you can get expert information by phone (+359 879 66 83 63) on issues related to:

  • spelling and punctuation of the modern Bulgarian literary language;
  • the meaning, use, origin and stylistic characteristics of words;
  • the proper formation of different types of documents;
  • practical assistance in editing of different texts;
  • practical assistance in the study of the Bulgarian language at school;
  • encyclopaedic consultions.

The Service provides written advice and elaborate linguistic expertise necessary for the operation of various institutions, companies, media, publishing houses, private persons, and for the settlement of legal disputes.

Qualified professionals answer your questions, including the authors of the normative Official Spelling Dictionary, authors of spelling, pronounciation and punctuation reference books and numerous research studies in the field of modern Bulgarian language.

The Language Consultation Service Online Guide contains rich language information in the form of questions and answers. It has been based on the large database of the Language Consultation Service at the Institute for Bulgarian Language updated on a daily basis. It can be searched by word, phrase or domain, so that everyone can easily find the answers to their language questions. There is also an online form which can be used to submit a query to the Language Consultation Service.

The Online reference guide targets a wide range of users and offers competent answers to language questions, as well as advice on language practice. The Guide has been created by the Department of Modern Bulgarian Language.
