
The Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences invites you to meet Alexander Kiossev. Professor Kiossev is a scholar of the history of modern culture. He has taught at the University of Göttingen and Columbia University, and has pursued academic specialisations in York, Cardiff, Paris, and Budapest. From 1998 to 2000, he served as Regional Director of the Summer School in the Humanities in Santiago de Compostela. He has been curator of the Bulgarian programme at the Leipzig Book Fair, Head of the Department of Cultural History and Theory at the Faculty of Slavic Studies, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (2004–2008), and Director of the Cultural Centre of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” from 2009 until December 2025. Since 2010, he has also served as Editor-in-Chief of the literary journal Piron.
