On 30 March 2026, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and the Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences signed a partnership agreement.
The agreement was signed by Kiril Valchev, Director General of BTA, and Prof. Dr Svetla Koeva, Director of the Institute for Bulgarian Language. The signing ceremony took place at the National Press Club of BTA in Sofia and was attended by Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Under the agreement, the Institute for Bulgarian Language will provide BTA with a specialised open-access large language model for the automatic detection of language inconsistencies and errors, designed to meet the specific requirements of editorial and proofreading work. In turn, BTA will provide language data for linguistic processing and analysis during the development of the model.
BTA’s language data are particularly valuable because they are representative of standard Bulgarian and reflect the country’s cultural diversity.
The signing of the partnership agreement with the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences also marks the launch of BTA’s new “Write Correctly” column.
