The conference is organised by the Department of Computational Linguistics at the Institute for Bulgarian Language, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, within the project “Support for the Development of PhD Students, Postdoctoral Researchers, Postgraduates and Young Scientists”, funded by the European Social Fund under the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development”.
Bulgarian companies developing software solutions and applications based on computational linguistics will present their latest products during the First International Conference “Computational Linguistics in Bulgaria”, which will take place on 4 September 2014 at the Hilton Hotel in Sofia. As part of the Language Technologies Exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to see an online text simplification system designed to support people with autism, content management systems, and other language technology applications.
The main objective of the conference is to strengthen the research community in the field of computational linguistics in Bulgaria and to contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills of the PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and postgraduates participating in the project. Researchers from France, Serbia, Slovakia, Norway, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine will join Bulgarian specialists to discuss the practical applications of computational linguistics, including natural language processing, machine translation, the compilation of electronic dictionaries, the development and maintenance of electronic language resources, and related topics.
