On 29 October 2025, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova officially presented the volume “Alphabet. Language. Identity”, containing the proceedings of the Second International Forum for the Cyrillic Alphabet “Alphabet. Language. Identity”, held under her patronage. The event was attended by researchers from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, representatives of Bulgarian universities, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), and members of the media. The ambassadors of several European countries also honoured the event with their presence. The contribution from the Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was authored by Dr Miglena Mihaylova-Palanska. The volume addresses important topics related to the history of the Cyrillic and Glagolitic alphabets, issues concerning Old Bulgarian literature, contemporary Bulgarian typefaces, and other subjects. It also presents the results of discussions devoted to the role of Bulgaria in the development of Slavic literacy and culture. The initiative is among the most significant events in Bulgaria’s cultural calendar in 2025.
