Qualification requirements (in Bulgarian)

The PhD programme in Bulgarian Language prepares highly qualified specialists of Bulgarian with experience and knowledge in researching the synchronous and diachronic development of the Bulgarian language, focused on examining various linguistic problems in particular scientific areas (modern Bulgarian, morphology, syntax, Bulgarian lexicology and lexicography, Bulgarian terminology and terminography, history of the Bulgarian language, Bulgarian dialectology and linguistic geography).

General and Comparative Linguistics

Qualification requirements (in Bulgarian)

The PhD programme in General and Comparative Linguistics prepares highly qualified specialists with experience and knowledge in the field of theoretical linguistics and comparative studies of linguistic phenomena and problems in the context of various research areas, e.g.: general linguistics, comparative linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, etymology, onomastics, applied onomastics, ethnolinguistics, computational and mathematical linguistics, computational lexicography.

In the period 2007-2012, 24 PhD students were educated at the Institute for Bulgarian Language: 14 full-time, 4 part-time, and 6 on a self-study basis.

In the period 2007-2012, 23 students successfully defended a PhD degree: 13 full-time, 4 part-time, and 6 self-study.

In the period 2013-2018, up until December 2019, 23 PhD students have been educated at the Institute for Bulgarian Language: 13 full-time (3 transferred to part-time), 7 part-time, and 3 on a self-study basis.

In the period 2013-2018, up until December 2019, 11 students successfully defended a PhD degree: 6 full-time, 1 part-time, and 4 self-study.
