Eighth Forum “Bulgarian Grammar”
The Institute for Bulgarian Language “Prof. Lyubomir Andreychin” at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Bulgarian Language at the Faculty of Slavic Studies of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” are inviting you to participate in the Eighth Forum “Bulgarian Grammar” on the topic “Predication, Predicates, Predicatives”.
The forum is dedicated to the 90th anniversary from the birth of the one of the most influential Bulgarian linguists of our time – prof. Yordan Penchev Penchev Dsc.
Forum will be conducted on 21st October in hall “Prof. Alexandar Teodorov-Balan” in the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Shipchenski prohod Blvd. No 52. If the interest is big enough the forum may be conducted in two days: 21st and 22nd October. The form of conduct (attendance or online) will be reported on October 2021.
The topic assumes consideration of wide range of theoretical and scientifically applied problems connected with lexical specifics, semantic description and classification of (chosen classes) predicates and predicatives, description of grammatical categories that participate in the realization of the predication, research of the models in their syntactic realization and establishment of semantic and grammatical characteristics.
The main questions of the discussion will be concentrated on these issues (but they will not be restricted to them):
- Lexical and semantic characteristics of predicate and predicative classes;
- Methods for description of the valence and of selection of arguments;
- Expression of predication on a morphological level;
- Semantic and syntactical structure of the sentences with predicates and predicatives;
- Description of the semantical and grammatical restrictions in the realization of subjects, complements and adjuncts.
The goal is not (only) to give final answers, but to exchange opinions, to give assumptions and by continuing the tradition from the last meetings to create a field for direct contact about the problems of the Bulgarian grammar.
You can participate by sending resume of your report in pdf. format (no longer than one standard page) until 15th July 2021 with the form of registration on the address: //ibl.bas.bg/forum2021/ .
Information about the reports included in the program will be send until 31st July. All reports reported in the forum will be published in the annex to the magazine “Bulgarian Language”.
